Great Texas Music Venues: Love And War In Texas            

The first time I went to Love and War in Texas was with my friend Brent who assured me there was a place in Plano where I could wear my dirty jeans and cowgirl boots without getting any odd looks.  Skeptical, I grudging went along and after a few hours of misters under the hot sun, buckets of Shiner Bock beer, and actually getting a seat up close to James McMurtry, I was having the time of my life.  A few weeks later the Trail Dust down the street from my place in Grapevine went out of business and shortly afterwards a sign saying “Love And War In Texas Coming Soon” went up. 

I can’t tell you how annoyed those construction workers got with me circling the parking lot everyday and asking them over and over when they would be done. The Grapevine location did finally open with it’s beautiful stone bar and great Texas Country Music.  In addition, they have Lone Star beer on tap and you can get a gigantic glass of it for five bucks (my kind of place).  It doesn’t have the outdoor area like Plano, but it does have a good little dance floor instead, which is pretty handy after a few of those mugs of Lone Star inspire you to do a little two-steppin’.

Both locations boast good food, atmosphere, and cheap tickets to good Texas Music.

Narrow Trail Cowboy Church Sunday mornings at the Plano Location

Summer Shiner Sunday at the Plano location.

Thursdays – Sundays have a variety of acts - Some of them rather big names on the Texas Music scene, but since the venues are only so big, so are the crowds.

I keep hearing guys talking about how they've been getting their limit all week, yet I've been out to three ranches and have not seen these mystery flocks of dove everywhere...My Uncle's place in Bynum actually has some water left on it so he's getting some out there but I'm thinking some of the guys I know might be, let's see, BSing just a little?  Especially since I've seen the way some of them shoot - lol.
