Cartier, one of the most revered names in jewellery, is synonymous with beauty, style and quality. Cartier Monde is now the world's biggest luxury jeweller, with some 200 retail stores in more than 125 countries.

Cartier owes much of its present-day success to its founding family members. The first Cartier to become a goldsmith was Louis-Francois Cartier in the 18th century. His grandson, also called Louis-Francois, set up the Cartier company in Paris in 1847. Already renowned as one of the finest jewellers in Paris, he was soon able to expand his business and set up shop in the fashionable Palais-Royal district. Royal patronage from a cousin of pearl beads Napoleon III opened the door to the highest echelons of Parisian society.

In 1874 Alfred Cartier took over the running of the business from his father Louis-Francois. Alfred's three sons, Louis, Pierre and Jacques, would eventually turn the family business into a global empire. Louis Cartier was the key player in expanding the Cartier empire on a global scale, opening a London branch in 1902, and a freshwater pearl beads New York branch in 1909.

In 1904, Louis Cartier designed a watch for the Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont. Santos wanted a watch which was more suitable for use when flying than the traditional pocket watch, so he asked Louis to design something for him. So it was the now world-famous Cartier Santos wristwatch, was born.

The first London shop in Burlington Street was appointed official purveyor of jewellery to the court of Edward VII. In 1907, under the management of Jacques, the akoya pearl beads youngest of the three brothers, they moved to 175 New Bond Street.

Following on from the success of their London branch, Cartier expanded into the American market , opening a shop in New York in 1909, under the management of Pierre Cartier. Initially, all merchandise was shipped from Paris, but a workshop was soon set up in New York and Pierre Cartier quickly established the Cartier brand image across the United States.

In 1910 two more Cartier branches were opened, one in Moscow and one in the loose pearl Persian Gulf. Meanwhile, business was so good in New York that they moved to splendid new premises on Fifth Avenue, and soon the Cartier brand had gained worldwide recognition.

Even during the First World War Cartier continued to do business, thanks to their inventive and original designs. In the inter-war years, two more branches were opened in fashionable beach resorts, Cartier Cannes in 1935, and Cartier Monte Carlo in 1938. Further branches were opened in Geneva, Hong Kong and Munich, with members of the wider family assisting in the running of the expanding Cartier empire.

As the pioneering members of the Cartier family either died or retired from active business, Cartier International, formed in 1945, evolved into an enormous multinational organisation. Having gone through various takeovers whilst always maintaining its position as one the world's leading luxury brands, Cartier is today the centerpiece of The Vendome Luxury Goods Group, turning over several billion dollars every year.

freshwater pearl necklace

Posted by: wholesale
A pearl diamond earring is a classy gift that contains two different elements: the flash of the diamond and the quiet beauty of the pearl. This contrasting combination has been a twisted pearl necklace very popular choice for jewelry and while it has been used for many years, each time, it is still a knockout.

If you’re planning to buy pearl and diamond earrings either as a gift or as part of your jewelry collection, then you’ve made a great choice. This combination is not only valuable, it also has lasting beauty and elegance.

Know your pearls
If the pearl is the more dominant gem in your earrings, then be sure to pick a good quality one. Even if the diamond/s in your earrings is high quality, a bad pearl can ruin the whole look of multi-strand necklaces your jewelry. Here are a few tips and info on pearls:

The pearl is the only gem that is produced by a live organism, namely mollusks and oysters. They are formed each time a foreign particle, like a grain of sand, enters the shell. The mollusk or oyster then reacts by treating it as an irritation and proceeds to coat it with nacre, a crystalline substance. It is the same substance that we find in the interior of the shell when we open it.

The foreign particle is continuously coated with layers upon layers of tin cup necklace nacre until it grows in size. In the end, this foreign particle with the layers of nacre becomes a pearl. Natural pearls are formed this way and are more often shaped irregularly.

Cultured pearls are in no way inferior to natural pearls. They are still real pearls, except that their production involved a deliberate implanting of a foreign substance to stimulate a mollusk.

The value of a pearl depends on its quality: the size, shape, color, thickness of the nacre, luster and texture. Since pearls are naturally occurring gems and no two are alike, these factors can vary greatly.

Choosing your diamonds
There are four Cs to note when choosing a diamond. These are good to opera or rope necklace note especially if it is the more dominant or focal gem in your earring.

Cut – involves two things: the shape of the diamond and the quality of the cut. Three of the most common are the brilliant cut, the princess cut and the emerald cut. The cut of the diamond will determine how brilliant its shine is and the more the cut brings out this quality, the higher the price. Of the three, the emerald cut is the most affordable.

Color – since diamonds are a natural substance, they are not always crystal clear. They come in different colors – yellow, pink and red, with the last two the more expensive.

Clarity – refers to the number of imperfections found in freshwater pearl necklace your diamond. Imperfections or inclusions affect the way light is reflected by the stone, so the clearer the gem, the more expensive it is.

Carat – refers to the size of the diamond with one carat equal to about 200 mgs. An honest diamond seller will have jewelry marked with ‘ct’ for carat or ‘ctw/tcw’ for total carat weight. When buying earrings with diamonds, look for the tcw. Earrings are bought in pairs and so they should have two diamonds of equal size.

How to care for your pearl and diamond earrings
Pearls and diamonds may look good together as components of an earring, but their contrasting characteristics can actually affect their care. Pearls are softer gems because they are organic while diamonds are the hardest gemstones in the world. Pearls can get easily scratched or damaged if you are not careful about their storage so the best thing to do is, tailor your care on the weaker gem which is the pearl.

It’s not a good idea to store pearls with other hard jewelry. To keep your jewelry in good shape, try to store them in the box they were bought in. Each earring will have a separate hole where it can safely stay. This way, there is no danger of one of the diamonds scratching the pearl of the other earring.

Pearls can also get affected by hair spray, sweat, body oils, colognes and perfumes. If you’re planning to put on your earrings, best apply cosmetics first. This way, you will minimize chemical contact with your pearls.

As scientists search

Posted by: wholesale
As scientists search the skies for life elsewhere, they have found more than 300 planets outside our solar system. But they all have been gas balls or can't be proven to be solid. Now a team of European astronomers has confirmed the first rocky extrasolar planet. (See pictures of Earth from space.)

Scientists have long figured that if life begins on http://www.inflatable-wholesaler.com">inflatable a planet, it needs a solid surface to rest on, so finding one elsewhere is a big deal.

"We basically live on a rock ourselves," said co-discoverer http://www.inflatable-wholesaler.com">inflatable bouncer Artie Hartzes, director of the Thuringer observatory in Germany. "It's as close to something like the Earth that we've found so far. It's just a little too close to its sun."

So close that its surface temperature is more than 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit, too toasty to sustain life. It circles its star in just 20 hours, zipping around at 466,000 mph. By comparison, Mercury, the http://www.inflatable-wholesaler.com">inflatable slides planet nearest our sun, completes its solar orbit in 88 days.

"It's hot, they're calling it the lava planet," Hartzes said.

This is a major discovery

Posted by: wholesale
This is a major discovery in the field of trying to find life elsewhere in the universe, said outside expert Alan Boss of the Carnegie Institution. It was the buzz of a conference on finding an Earth-like planet outside our solar system, held in Barcelona, Spain, where the discovery wasinflatable presented Wednesday morning. The find is also being published in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics.

The planet is called Corot-7b. It was first discovered earlier this year. European scientists then watched it dozens of times to measure its density to prove that it is rocky like Earth. It's in our general neighborhood, circling a star in the winter sky about 500 light-years away. Each inflatable bouncer light-year is about 6 trillion miles.

Four planets in our solar system are rocky: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.

In addition, the planet is about as close to Earth in size as any other planet found outside our solar system. Its radius is only one-and-a-half times bigger than Earth's and it has a mass about five times the Earth's.

Now that another rocky planet has been found so inflatable castles close to its own star, it gives scientists more confidence that they'll find more Earth-like planets farther away, where the conditions could be more favorable to life, Boss said.

"The evidence is becoming overwhelming that we live in a crowded universe," Boss said.
